What is steam trap? The so-called steam trap is an automatic valve that can remove the condensed water, air and other incoagulable gas in the steam heating appliance and steam pipeline and prevent the steam leakage. The steam is widely used in the industries and domestic installation. In the steam transportation pipeline system or in the process where the steam is used for heating, drying, sterilization, stewing, consolidation and so on, the condensed water should be removed through the stream trap and the steam can not be leaked. The quality of a steam trap is quite of great importance for the normal operation of the steam system, the improvement of heating efficiency of the equipment and the rational use of the energy.

There are different drainage ways for the steam traps. Some are operated by the changes of induction density. Some are operated by the changes of the temperature. And some are operated by the changes between the static press and dynamic press of the hot condensed water.

Although at present there are various model numbers of, their working principle is similar and all of them make use of the difference for the height, temperature and flow rate of the steam and the condensed water to realize the opening and closing and prevent the air or vent water. The steam trap has three functions for energy-saving. Firstly, it can rapidly give off the condensed water in the steam appliance equipment and thus keeps the heating efficiency at the best state. Then the condensed water will not be remained in the equipment and to maximum degree the valve ensures the steam space. Once the steam trap can not be used well, the equipment will be greatly effected and even completely be at a standstill because of the detention of the condensed water. Secondly, it can fast gives off the air and low-temperature condensed water when being opened and thus it will shorten the operation time for warm-up. When the steam begins to pass, the steam transportation and steam equipment will be full of air. If they do not be removed, the steam can not enter. What’s more, when the temperature in the steam equipment reaches the steam temperature, the initial low-temperature condensed water should be rapid given off and thus the equipment can work normally in the short time. This is the important condition for raising the production efficiency. Thirdly, it can reduce its own steam consumption. The so-called steam consumption of the steam trap generally refers to steam leakage. It means the sum of steam amount required by the movement of the steam trap and loss amount caused by heat dissipation.
